CEEQUAL Term Contracts launched in Scotland

On 24 June, CEEQUAL Term Contracts was officially launched in Scotland. During the event the 3rd Generation Management and Maintenance of the Scottish Trunk Road Network, South West Unit and White Cart Flood Prevention Scheme were presented with their CEEQUAL awards.

Presentations at the event included an update on CEEQUAL developments by Roger Venables, Chief Executive of CEEQUAL, and Practioner’s Views on the use of CEEQUAL Term Contracts from Amey and Halcrow.

Amey’s delivery of motorway and trunk road management and maintenance is the first CEEQUAL Term Contract to be awarded its Initial Award in Scotland. Amey, on behalf of Transport Scotland, attained a 69.7% for the works carried out between 2009 and 2010. The project scored particularly highly in three of the categories: ecology, commitment to relations with local communities and contract management.

CEEQUAL’s Chief Executive Roger Venables, in commenting on this first Term Contracts Award in Scotland, said: “We thank Amey, Transport Scotland and their contract partners for their help to CEEQUAL in trialling the new CEEQUAL Term Contracts Version during its development. We are delighted they then chose to have the contract formally assessed once the Term Contracts Version was completed. CEEQUAL warmly congratulates the whole team on their important achievement, and look forward to their further use of the scheme on this and other contracts.”

Colin Mackenzie, Amey’s account director said: “We are acutely aware that the network we manage for Transport Scotland, and our operations, have the potential for environmental impact and so through our team of sustainability specialists in all aspects of the contract we work hard to identify and mitigate these factors.”

White Cart Flood Prevention Scheme was presented with its CEEQUAL Interim Client & Design award. Due to the nature of the project the Scheme has been split into two sections: Flood Storage areas which achieved a CEEQUAL Excellent scoring 80.8% and Urban Flood defences which also achieved an Excellent and scored 81.7%.
