Project summary

Science Central will be Newcastle’s new landmark location for science, business, living and leisure which is designed to support a thriving community, rewarding jobs and ground breaking scientific advances. The Phase 1 infrastructure includes new and upgraded shared surface highways, public squares together with a range of interim green spaces for public enjoyment.

Sustainability features of the project include a living green wall, rainwater harvesting, low energy LED lighting, provision for district heating, community liaison and the design of high quality public realm works that encourage pedestrian use throughout the entire site.
